10 Jun After the George Floyd Murder
– WRITTEN by Toni Clark, Executive Director and Co-Founder
It’s been less than a week since the gruesome and senseless murder of George Floyd by a police officer while other officers watched. The haunting video and all the protests afterwards are profoundly sad and upsetting. How does our country begin to repair all that is wrong? And how must we as individuals act differently to be forces for change?
We began iBuildBridges to inspire individuals to actively build relationships with people of different backgrounds. By being curious about others and open to hearing their stories, bridge builders learn and evolve. We discover what we have in common and what is unique. And we learn to humanize rather than demonize those whose skin color, religion, or world view differ from our own.
Join our efforts to reach out to others with curiosity and openness and discover their stories. View our Facebook Live concerts and get acquainted with iBuildBridges artists. Listen to the music they create to bring us together as people. Our artists represent in part the diversity in our country. Every time they perform I am reminded of how much we have to celebrate, as well as learn from each other.
