Why The Lower Case i?

Why The Lower Case i?

We believe that each of us have opportunities every day to create a more harmonious world.  But in a big, diverse and often divided country it is both challenging and humbling to figure out how to begin creating that harmony.

When trying to constructively address differences between people, basic communication training encourages us to start with I Statements instead of You Statements.

I Statements require taking responsibility as opposed to placing responsibility elsewhere.

In emphasizing the little “i” in iBuildBridges, we intentionally encourage each individual to take responsibility to become a bridge builder—someone who reaches out in constructive, creative ways to learn about and form relationships with people who are different.
