What’s special about iBuildBridges?
It’s a very active community of people who are amazing talents and amazing musicians, but also have a greater purpose in what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. I loved the idea of embodying and resembling diversity and how things should look, but also perpetuating the idea that we’re all different and that’s amazing. That’s beautiful.
What are your musical influences?
My musical influences come from old school 60s, 70s, 80s, R&B, and soul like Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Aretha Franklin. That’s what I grew up on. I’ve always wanted to write music that gives you that feeling inside, when you just go, “Ooh, that makes me feel good, makes me feel loved.”
What have you learned about bringing people together?
I think the world would be more united if we recognized and loved people for their humanity, first and foremost. Yes, we have different ideas, we have different ideals, and those can be on opposite ends of the spectrum, but at the end of the day, we’re all humans, and we are all living this life and doing our best.
