Collective Compositions: Building Bridges, Not Walls

Sharing Space: How We're "Building Bridges, Not Walls"

Every iBuildBridges performance grows toward one unforgettable moment: when our audience and musicians unite singing the chorus of “Building Bridges, Not Walls.” As our signature anthem and concert finale, this original composition captures the heart of our mission — transforming individual voices into one vibrant harmony.

Building bridges between us, we’ll break the walls of fear.”

Composed by Musical Director Eduardo Mendonça as iBuildBridge’s first original piece, “Building Bridges, Not Walls” distills the values that motivate us into powerful refrains. The lyrics carry a message about unity and overcoming division, encouraging listeners to embrace joy and connection while letting go of prejudices that divide us.

Your hand is on my hand, no need to think offensive…”

Musically, the piece weaves together distinct Samba rhythms and Jazz influences in A minor at 130 BPM, creating an uplifting yet grounded energy. The arrangement layers electric guitar, saxophone, maracas, and heavy percussion with rich acoustic textures, building a dynamic soundscape where multiple instrumental voices collaborate and harmonize; much like the communities we seek to build.

“No room for hate. No time to wait. This world is just one land.”

The story that the song tells lies in its structure. Slowly, almost as if piece by piece, the elements unify, then crescendo at that final, cultivating moment when the musicians sing the chorus, and audiences are invited to join along. In that instant, the song’s message becomes a lived experience. Diverse voices literally resonate as one joyful sound, proving through music itself what the lyrics proclaim. We all share the same land, and we should all rejoice in cheer together.

Experience “Building Bridges, Not Walls” live at an upcoming iBuildBridges performance. Check our events calendar to find your nearest show and join the chorus.
